If you don't live in a cave, you must come across the term "NFT" during the past few days. And if you're totally confused about what's happening on the internet lately, welcome to the party. 🤷♀️
NFT firstly caught my attention when I read about Elon Musk's girlfriend, singer and artist Grimes, and her digital artwork that was sold for 6 million bucks.
Since then it was like an avalanche - NFTs eeeverywhere. Gosh, I don't even totally understand Bitcoin and cryptocurrency yet, and here we are with another thing?🤦♀️
NFT means non-fungible token - and very easily said it's like an ownership certificate for virtual and online stuff. You can exclusively buy images, gifs, pieces of art, and even tweets. A brief history of NFTs by Digital Trends here.
🐈 Remember Nyan Cat? It was the first viral gif ten years ago. Celebrating its 10th years anniversary, the creator Chris Torres did a one-of-a-kind remastered version and sold it in an online auction for about US$ 590,000.

But in comparison with the current numbers, this price is just a drop in the ocean. On March 12, Christie's, one of the most famous auction houses, held its first auction of NTFs. The digital artist Mike Winkelmann, using his stage name "Beeple", who was basically an unknown graphic designer from Wisconsin before, sold his piece "Everydays" for 69 million dollars.

Brands are starting to ride on this wave, too. Taco Bell recently launched "NFTacoBells" - 25 pieces of crypto-art sold in under 30 mins related to Taco Bell's menu in some way. Imagine clips of spicy potato tacos... Some pieces were sold for more than $3,000. 🌮
And even celebrities are jumping on this wagon - Lindsay Lohan sold her art for more than 50 thousand dollars. 👩🦰
Are you still questioning why would somebody buy digital assets for so much money? You're not alone - I'm with you. 🙋♀️ But one thing is for sure - it looks like a future for art and it's better to keep an eye on it.

One recommendation 👌
If you are into dramedy, this show is for you! Kaley Cuoco as a flight attendant with drinking problems woke up in the wrong place at the wrong time - next to a dead man with no idea what happened. You will guess who did it until the end. 🔍
